Paul’s Prayer for Wisdom

Paul prays for knowledge in four areas for the people of Ephesus. These areas are important because knowledge in these areas also will influence our Christian walk and witnesses for Christ. Paul also shows us the value of prayer when we place our faith in God and his power moving in our lives. Paul was in constant prayer.
Ephesians 1:15–16 NLT
15 Ever since I first heard of your strong faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for God’s people everywhere, 16 I have not stopped thanking God for you. I pray for you constantly,
In Paul’s faithful life of prayer he keeps praying for God’s people. He thanks God for the faith of the Saints. How good it is to encourage others and pray for their growth. One way to grow is to know God!

Pray to Know God. (Part 1)

Ephesians 1:17 NLT
17 asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom and insight so that you might grow in your knowledge of God.
One part of the prayer: To know God(17a):
Know The glorious Father, the Father of our Lord, Jesus Christ
Know God who gives wisdom: (v17b)
Spiritual Wisdom And Insight
The wisdom from God will benefit you to:
Grow in your knowledge of God. [see God moving in your life]
Growth is ongoing and not ceasing because growth equals life.
The second part of this prayer is found in verse 18
Ephesians 1:18 NLT
18 I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance.

Pray for our hearts to be open. (Part 2)

Second part of the Prayer is for heart to be enlighten

(v.18-Hearts flooded with light
Improved spiritual vision by the great ophthalmologist.
Ephesians 1:18–19 NLT
18 I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance. 19 I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power
ephesians
So you can understand the confident hope in Jesus.
Know the inheritance we have in Jesus.
Know the riches we have in God.
It is glorious because God himself is glorious and we can share in this.
Know the peace of being called to be holy.
Know we are God’s and his inheritance.
We belong to Him.
He is our God.
We are his special treasure.
We have been purchases by God.
Ephesians 1:13–14 NLT
13 And now you Gentiles have also heard the truth, the Good News that God saves you. And when you believed in Christ, he identified you as his own by giving you the Holy Spirit, whom he promised long ago. 14 The Spirit is God’s guarantee that he will give us the inheritance he promised and that he has purchased us to be his own people. He did this so we would praise and glorify him.
We are blesses by this great relationship with God that we can claim God as our inheritance through Jesus.
Lamentations 3:23–24 NLT
23 Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning. 24 I say to myself, “The Lord is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him!”

Live the Life you were called to live.

Live the Life you were called to live.

Live a life filled with the love of God.
Let Love to guide you to humbly serve those around you.
Let Love to show forgiveness to those who do not ask you for it.
Live a life filled with the peace of God.
Peace allows you to hold your tongue when others speak harshly toward you.
Peace helps you while the world is crashing for you to still have hope in Jesus.
This knowledge of Jesus reminds you the power of resurrection and being surrounded by his amazing love.

This knowledge of being loved and possess by Jesus as his precious inheritance.

Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus.
To know that the promises of the Lord are ours because of Jesus.

Third part of this prayer is to know the great power of God the Father (vv.19-20)

Ephesians 1:19–20 NLT
19 I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power 20 that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms.

The incredible greatness of God’s power

For those who believe in him.
We are the object of God’s great power.
He desires to show us his great and awesome power in our lives.
This power is special and unique to those who believe in him.
This great power is the same power that: (See ):
Raised Christ from the dead.
Seated him in the place of honor
Jesus is at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms.

The power of the resurrection is working for us.

The power of Life over death is working in our favor.
Just as God is for us, is the same power He uses on those who are against us.
Be strong and steadfast as you keep your hope in the Lord.
Ephesians 1:20 NLT
20 that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms.
Worship the resurrected Lord, Jesus Christ. He is exalted and Lord of all. Jesus is Lord and worthy to be praised.
This knowledge of God’s great power leads to the the Fourth prayer for knowledge by Paul in this letter.

Know God, Know Jesus in majesty

Ephesians 1:21–23 NLT
21 Now he is far above any ruler or authority or power or leader or anything else—not only in this world but also in the world to come. 22 God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made him head over all things for the benefit of the church. 23 And the church is his body; it is made full and complete by Christ, who fills all things everywhere with himself.
Ephesians 1:22–23 NLT
22 God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made him head over all things for the benefit of the church. 23 And the church is his body; it is made full and complete by Christ, who fills all things everywhere with himself.
Know Jesus is far above any:
Ruler or political figure.
He is above all in this world and the world to come. (Jesus is better)
God has put all things under his authority:
Christ is the head of all things.
Chris is the head of the church for the benefit of the Church.
The Church is His body.
The Church is made full and complete by Christ.
Everything is filled by Christ.
Christ brings the meaning to our life and holds all things together.
John 1:3–4 NLT
3 God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. 4 The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone.
john 1:
John 1:4–5 NLT
4 The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.

The ascended Lord completes.

He lifts us up by his grace to know we are victorious through him.
We are in him and look toward to share the benefits with him in glory.
We must seek to know Him that results in us living for him.

Conclusion:

Pray to know the Lord.
Pray to know God
Pray for your heart to be open.
Pray to know the power of God.
Seek to know Jesus, ruler of everything.
